Château Saulnier

Saulnier Castle is located east of a small river (the Dronne), whose water was diverted to feed a canal and a moat. It was built on the site of a medieval fortified house, of which the 13th-century stair tower is the most significant remnant. It comprises two L-shaped residential wings, one to the north dating from the 15th century and the other to the west dating from the 16th century. In the inner courtyard stands a fine Perigord example of a Renaissance-style covered well. The entire property, including the well, is listed as a historic monument.
