CORSICAN SINGING – A FILETTA

A Filetta’s music is a journey… One might describe it as a contemporary polyphonic vocal ensemble, rooted in a powerful oral tradition.

The current repertoire brings together sacred and secular songs with diverse influences, film scores by Bruno Coulais, compositions for choreographies by Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui, excerpts from choral works based on Greek or Roman mythology, and pieces from a requiem commissioned by the Saint-Denis Festival.
Music that serves a worldview, unequivocally rejecting any form of identity-based isolation, and whose philosophy could be summed up by this beautiful aphorism by René Char: ‘The purest harvests are sown in soil that does not exist; they eliminate gratitude and owe everything to spring ”.

Our verdict: “Seven men, alone with their voices. That’s all it takes to take us on a musical journey to Corsica and even beyond. It’s beautiful and powerful; it’s moving and touching.”
