
Peatlands are ecosystems where plants grow and decompose slowly and incompletely. This results in the accumulation of large amounts of plant material that forms combustible solid: the peat. These fragile wetlands contribute to the hydrological balance, carbon sequestration and the preservation of biodiversity.
