Rated category 1, the Couze River is one of the main Gartempe tributaries. Its waters gush down a steep slope on a stone-strewn bed out of which large jutting boulders appear. It flows into the lake of Saint-Pardoux. Remarkable spots like the lake of Saint-Pardoux or the gorges of the Couze valley can be admired and along the river banks, iconic buildings of the area’s heritage are worth looking out for as well, including many old private water mills. Trout is the prevailing type of fish there and “fario” trout is among them.
Natural bait fishing, cast-fishing and also with the "Drachkovitch" system can be enjoyed here. As a 1st graded river, only one rod per angler is allowed with maximum 2 hooks and 3 artificial flies. If you fish parrs in the Couze, you must return the living fish to the water.
