Where the present church stands, the Château de Marcelcave once stood. It was destroyed during the war.
In 1916, the castle was used to house French troops. In October 1916, the President of the Republic, Raymond Poincaré, visited the village to assess the gains made during the Battle of the Somme. In the foreground, we can see cannons, machine guns and flamethrowers captured from the Germans.
