3rd Australian Division Memorial

Shortly after the armistice, work began on a memorial dedicated to the 3rd Australian Division on the hills above the village. German prisoners of war were employed to help build the monument.
By the autumn of 1919, the monument had already been completed, and many people (soldiers, local residents and families) came to visit it before its official unveiling in 1920. This memorial stands as a testament to the collective memory and the tribute paid to these Australian heroes who fell far from their homeland.
