Saint Peter's chapel

Originally, it was the chapel of the castle of an unknown lord, vassal of Uzès, whose adjoining tower was the keep responsible for guarding the northern Uzège region.
Built in the 11th century, it is in the Romanesque style.
The chapel was first partly destroyed during the Cathar heresy of the "Albigensian War" in the late 12th century. It was rebuilt with a primitive Gothic porch in the 13th c., before the Lord of Uzès, the new owner, added a tower (now levelled) to fortify the complex and assert his power.
At the end of the 14th century, following the Hundred Years' War, it became the northeast corner tower of the village's new rampart.

In 1982, the Association pour la Restauration de la Chapelle Saint-Pierre was created to save it from ruin, restore it and keep it as part of the community's heritage.
