Eglise protestante Saint-Laurent à Dorlisheim

Description

Following the introduction of the Reformation to Dorlisheim in the 16th century, the church was used for Protestant worship until 1685, when Louis XIV instituted simultaneity. This 12th-century building features a triple Romanesque nave, a Gothic bell tower-porch and a choir flanked by two square vaulted chapels. The portal and bas-reliefs on the choir's outer walls are well worth a look.

The Rémy Mahler organ is highly original, inspired by Renaissance aesthetics and 17th-century Alsatian organ building. It was created in 2006
