The opening takes place on Sunday, June 21 at 3 p.m.
In the series Make It Yourself, De Ruysscher explores the boundary between object, work and artwork. Inspired by the thought of Marcel Duchamp, he questions the very nature of the work. An emblematic example is a marble palette on which rests a block of marble, both carved from the same stone and ready to be transformed.
The theme of family and friendship is at the heart of works such as Mon Père, Deux Coussins, Amitié et Soutien. These sculptures evoke rest, care, recognition and human proximity. The personal story becomes universal and invites the visitor to reflect on their own connections and memories.
In Nature and Impermanence, nature is a constant source of inspiration. Works like Pierre de Rivière explore the tension between sustainability and fragility. By making natural processes visible, the artist creates a poetic dialogue between growth, decline and renewal.
In Man and Society, the work Crocodile confronts the visitor with the contradictions of our time. A monumental marble crocodile takes the appearance of an inflatable toy and raises questions about consumption, nature and artificial reality. The work oscillates between heaviness and lightness, threat and innocence.
