Situated in a dominant position above the village it protects, Saint-Bonnet church is a fortified building in the "early Romanesque" style. Its construction dates back to the 9th century, and many remnants of the ancient Roman aqueduct were used.
Saint Bonnet lived in the 7th century. He ran his monastery in the village for 9 years and gave it his name. His personality, austerity and moral qualities, as well as his fight and action against slavery, earned him the episcopal see of Clermont-Ferrand.
