Traces of their existence date back to 1779. The dilapidated buildings were destroyed and rebuilt several times, in 1867 and 1920.
From the mid-19th century onwards, there was a major revival in trade with livestock fairs and markets. These were places for people to meet, talk and exchange ideas, in the hope of doing good business, but also to break the monotony of their daily lives.
Today, they have lost their importance and are only used occasionally.
