Vélorail de l'Ardèche

Pedal in the heart of the unspoilt nature of the Gorges du Doux: 4 courses to discover with family or friends on the historic line of the Vivarais Railway.
From Easter to All Saints' Day, departing from Boucieu le Roi, the Vélorail de l'Ardèche takes you on a fun and friendly outdoor activity. Climb aboard the pedal-powered carriages on the historic Chemin de Fer du Vivarais line.

Four routes are available:
Les Châtaigniers: ideal for beginners, this 8-kilometer route lets you enjoy an outdoor activity along the tracks. Cross viaducts and enjoy panoramic views over the villages of the upper Doux valley! (1h45 round trip, departing by railcar and returning by velorail)

Les Etroits: this 12-kilometer route takes you into the heart of the Gorges du Doux, where the river winds its way through the rocks. The track clings to the side of the cliff, on a succession of ashlar retaining walls, and passes through a 265-meter-long tunnel (2h00 round trip, departing by velorail and returning by autorail).

Les Viaducs: more athletic than Les Etroits, this 12-kilometre route takes you across the 45th parallel into the Parc Naturel Régional des Monts d'Ardèche.

La Grande Aventure: for even greater pleasure, this formula offers 20 kilometers of discovery in the heart of nature, combining the Châtaigniers and Etroits routes. For thrill-seekers! (4h round trip, with intermediate comfort break)

The 5-seater velorails can accommodate 2 pedal-powered passengers in the front and up to 3 in the back. To pedal, riders must be over 1.40 m tall, and children must be accompanied by an adult at the front. For safety reasons, children under 9 kg are not allowed on our velorails. From 9 kg upwards, a suitable car seat is installed by our team.
The activity operates even in the rain: please bring suitable clothing if necessary.
