Born out of the musicians’ desire to introduce audiences to Georg Telemann’s Parisian quartets, this programme showcases a refined 18th-century repertoire, blending French influences with the galant style. Composed during Telemann’s stay in Paris in 1737–1738 and performed at the Concert Spirituel des Tuileries, these quartets engage in a dialogue with the works of Louis-Gabriel Guillemain and Johann Christian Bach, a cosmopolitan figure of the European galant style.
The La Travesia ensemble performs these pieces in a typical period line-up: flute, violin, viola da gamba and harpsichord.
