Lac de Lavaugelade

Description

The Lavaud-Gelade lake, in Saint-Marc-à-Loubaud, is a real natural gem in the heart of the Millevaches plateau, with its wild, unspoilt character. Created in 1943 on the Taurion River, this vast 300-hectare lake is set in a remarkable environment of moorland, meadows, forests and peat bog wetlands. Classified as a Natura 2000 zone, it is home to a rich biodiversity and offers changing landscapes, between wooded hills and secret shores. Less crowded than Lac de Vassivière, it offers an authentic setting for contemplation, hiking and fishing, in a peaceful and intimate atmosphere.
