La Boverie is also the name of Liège’s Fine Arts museum. Opened in 2016, it houses temporary exhibitions and a permanent one, displaying works from extensive collections. Among them are well-known paintings by some of the world’s greatest artists, for example Picasso, Gauguin, Chagall, Monet or Magritte. To house the new museum, the old Fine Arts palace built for the World’s Fair of 1905 was completely refurbished. Designed by Charles Soubre, the exterior is in the Louis XVI style. Next to La Dérivation, the architect Rudy Riccioti and Bureau pHD have added a modern extension to the palace that offers a magnificent view over the park and La Dérivation.
