At the foot of the dam of the water-supply lake of the Canal du Midi, the Museum is dedicated to the discovery of this exceptional work classified by UNESCO. Inside the museum, you'll discover this titanic project and its designer, Pierre Paul Riquet.
Linking the Mediterranean Sea to the Atlantic Ocean... a dream that has been alive since Antiquity. Pierre-Paul Riquet made it happen in the 17th century! Along with Château de Versailles, Canal du Midi is the most important achievement of Louis XIV reign. Saint-Ferréol, an artifical lake UNESCO World Heritage site, is the keystone of the canal water supply system. You'll find Le Réservoir at the foot of the dam. It is a life-size exhibition on the history of the canal, its engineering structures and its ingenious supply system.
GALERIE DES ROBINETS
The Reservoir regularly organises tours of Galerie des Robinets (huge bronze taps). On this tour, you can plunge into the depths of Saint-Ferréol structure in the heart of a 70-metre-long vault, complete with sound and light effects. At the very end of the tunnel are 3 19th-century taps. Online ticket sales on the Résevoir website.
