The road you've just passed along is an ancient one. Dating back at least to Gallo-Roman times, it served as a link between Rennes and Quimper via Castennec. The three-kilometre stretch between Bubry and Inguiniel includes the chapels of Saint-Armel in Bubry, and Lochrist and Locmaria in Inguiniel.
Here, the high wall you are standing at, marks the boundary of the Coëtiquel estate. This seigneury, owned by the Bignan family in 1448, consisted of a manor house with a chapel, dovecote and pond in the 18th century. The whole estate has been renovated.
