Description

Church and temple of Sainte Croix XI-XIII century, old church from a priory. In 1562, the reformed church is set up at Sainte Croix and a temple is installed at the top of the village.
In 1585, the church was looted and set on fire. The Edict of Nantes temporarily appeased the Protestants. In 1644, the demolition of the temple was ordered and carried out despite the revolt of the women who sought to protect it. From 1750 onwards, a spirit of tolerance reigned, and the church was repaired, but there was no longer a temple. In 1805, the church was divided (Catholic worship in the transept and apse, Protestant worship in the nave) and two bell towers were built. To visit the church-temple, contact the town hall in advance by telephone or e-mail.
