The ruins of this feudal castle are still very much in evidence. It was the seat of the Baronnie d'Aix and belonged to René de la Tour-Gouvernet (1543 - 1619), a valiant and skilful Protestant captain who served in the Wars of Religion
under the orders of Lesdiguières, then became governor of Die. Having become Baron d'Aix, he had his château repaired using ashlar from the demolition of Die Cathedral and the Poyols bell tower.
