Inaugurated in 1954, the Bisson school was one of the first reconstruction projects in Lorient. The three buildings, only two of which survive, are clearly modernist. Facing due south to get as much light as possible into the classrooms, they are aligned with the road and open onto huge yards. Gone were the days of dark, closed classrooms! Connecting the junior school to the former girls’ school, the partly glassed-in yard has a mosaic illustrating Fontaine’s fables, made by the company Andreatta.
