The EAC is a contemporary art center with a collection of abstract art unique in France, the Albers-Honegger Donation.
The Albers-Honegger Collection, designated a National Treasure, offers the public a collection of 800 works representative of the many trends in geometric abstraction.
Located in the Château’s grounds, the eac. is spread across three buildings: temporary exhibitions on the first floor of the Château (built in the early 16th century and featuring a triangular floor plan that is very rare in France), the permanent collection in a contemporary building (2004, architects: Annette Gigon and Mike Guyer), and the Educational Workshops, located below the Château’s esplanade (1998, architect: Marc Barani).
The Espace de l’Art Concret carries out its artistic, cultural, and educational activities around three complementary missions:
- A mission to preserve and promote the Albers-Honegger collection
- A research mission, centered on temporary exhibitions and artist residencies that forge connections between the works in the collection and contemporary art
- An educational mission to raise public awareness of contemporary art through its educational workshops.
In addition to its program of temporary exhibitions, the eac. offers numerous outreach events: parent-child tours, guided tours, screenings, and more..
