VISIT THE CANADIAN MUSEUM OF HISTORY, FORMERLY THE CANADIAN MUSEUM OF CIVILIZATION.
The Canadian Museum of History is loved by visitors all over the world due to its permenant exhibitions covering 15,000 years of Canadian history, as well as its architecture and position on the banks of the Ottawa River.
This museum's mission is to showcase objects that tell the story of Canada's history and the diversity of its population. It also narrates the history and accomplishments of its people from their original habitation of North America to the present day.
The permanent exhibitions show the diversity of Canada's Aboriginal peoples, their interactions with the land, and their on-going contributions to society. Also see photos, totems and 6 reproduced aboriginal houses from the Pacific coast. Several short videos will also be shown so you can discover the aboriginal culture and indigenous art.
As well as its permanent exhibitions in the Grand Hall and the First Peoples Hall, each year the museum puts on several temporary exhibitions focusing on the history of Canada and the world.
You will discover a unique new exhibit on Canadian history including representations of the Aboriginal Peoples who first inhabited the land thousand's of years ago - recreated to scale and displayed for the first time. These scenes will completely immerse you in the Canadian history of Aboriginal Peoples. Discover the heritage of this vast nation that has become a prosperous and independant player on the world stage thanks to its struggles and diversity.
The museum also presents special exhibits and houses the Canadian Children's Museum and a cinema theatre.
