Château Périchon

Jean-André Périchon, an engineer from the Arts et Métiers and director of a sugar factory for 22 years in Egypt, was referred to as a "Bey" by the Khedive. In 1905, he had a Renaissance-style manor house built. Slate roofing, turret with pepperpot roof on the south-west face, topped by a weather vane featuring an oriental crescent moon. On the road side, an Egyptian-Turkish-style veranda known as the "Moorish salon", with furniture and curios brought back from Egypt. His collection of Egyptian artefacts is on display at the Musée des Beaux-Arts in Limoges. Private château, not open to the public.
