The 24th August in the year AD 79, Vesuvius erupted and covered the town of Pompeii in burning volcanic ash, burying buildings, objects, people and animals. Ironically, it is this destruction which preserved the town for centuries to come.
Protected by the volcanic debris, Pompei was rediscovered in the 17th century almost intact as if frozen in time.
Your shuttle will take you from Rome to Pompeii, and you will have the opportunity to admire this extraordinary site at your own pace.
Stroll along the main street, discover the casts of the victims of the catastrophe, fixed for eternity in the position of their last living moments... Admire surviving structures including the amphitheatre, the baths and the temples.
