This oak tree is named after forest ranger Hippolyte Foinet (1876–1956), who lived at the Épinette crossroads and restored it in the early 20th century. It is the oldest oak tree in the Andaines forest: over 300 years old, its circumference reaches 5.26 m at 1.30 m above the ground (plot 46).
