A Town of Art and History since 2002.
The rise of Rouen, located in a meander of the river Seine between the fluvial and marine waters, is intimately connected to the development its port.
Besides its commercial purpose, Rouen has played a significant role in politics and religion. Numerous buildings still testify to the grandeur of the city: the cathedral, Saint Ouen Abbey Church, the Law Court.
The city has preserved precious traces from the 16th century including the St Maclou Ossuary and the Gros-Horloge Astronomical Clock.
During the Age of Enlightenment, elegant town houses were built while the demolition of the fortification wall opened the city on its outskirts.
