Le Beffroi - Tour de l'Horloge

When you reach the Place du Général de Gaulle, you'll see this beautifully decorated tower with its gilded globe and 16 weather vanes. Also known as a belfry because of its resemblance to monuments in Belgium and northern France, this monument was built in the late 15th century by an Evreux architect named Pierre Smoteau. At the top, you'll see the original bell, known as the Louyse, which has been ringing the hours for over 500 years? Clock tower or belfry? You decide?
