Parc du Château de Fontaine-la-Soret

Planted with 3,700 beech trees, this 15-hectare park is divided into three distinct parts. From the entrance to the cour d'honneur: a 200-metre-long (218 yds.) path planted with rose bushes and dotted with yews. From the cour d'honneur to the tree-covered path, re-designed by Russel Page, there are "remodelled" lawns, paths lined with lime trees pruned to form curtains of foliage, areas enclosed by yews, a hedgerow of rounded beech trees, a flower garden, round and rectangular ponds with fountains, etc. From the tree-covered path to the bottom of the park: a romantic garden with a Norman character.
