Quartier de l'Enclos
Description
Area comprising the Vieux Bassin (old dock), the houses on Quai Sainte Catherine, the Lieutenance (former royal Lieutenant's lodge in the 16th and 17th centuries) and the church of St Etienne (St Stephen). The 17th century 'Greniers à Sel' (salt stores) are also located in this historic quarter. Formerly used to store gabelle and fishing salt, today they are a venue for exhibitions, concerts and conferences.
