Office de Tourisme du Perche en Normandie - Bureau de Bellême

Former capital city of the Perche province, Bellême still offers a rich heritage today: private mansions, medieval porch… Back in 1229, King St Louis visited the city with his mother, Blanche de Castille who had come to besiege the castle. Aristide Boucicaut, creator of the “Bon Marché”, the first department store in the world, and father of modern commerce, was born here in 1810.
