At the gates of Agen, the botanical garden of Darel is installed on the site of a former tile factory in Pont-du-Casse. Covering more than 2 hectares, this garden, classified as a "Jardin de France", is a real reserve of regional flora, preserving various endangered plants.
To familiarise you with each species, small signs indicate their common and learned names as you stroll through the garden. Extend yourself in front of the red tulip of Agenais, admire a meadow of wild orchids, smell the lemongrass in the massif of aromatic plants, discover the properties of medicinal plants and, in autumn, collect mushrooms in this garden decidedly full of surprises
And if you are lucky enough to meet André Bayze, head of the Darel Botanical Garden, the visit takes a playful and fascinating tour thanks to the wonderful stories he tells you.
