Description
The chapel is the oldest sanctuary dedicated to the Virgin Mary in the Gard, set in the garrigue.
On the heights of Montmirat, overlooking the Courme valley, the chapel of Notre-Dame de Jouffe is the oldest sanctuary dedicated to the Virgin Mary in the Gard.
An oppidum once stood on this site, before it became home to a Gallo-Roman population. It also bears witness to the influence of Cluny until the Wars of Religion.
The site is accessible via a signposted hiking trail.
