The Chapel of the White Penitents was built in the late 17th century and features a monumental fresco and four Baroque paintings.
The Pénitents Blancs chapel in Aigues-Mortes, completed in 1668 in neo-classical style. Located in the heart of the walled town, it serves as a place of worship for the Pénitents Blancs brotherhood, a religious group devoted to charity and prayer.
Its sober, elegant façade contrasts with the richly ornamented interior. It is also home to works of sacred art. Today, the chapel remains a place of remembrance and contemplation, bearing witness to the religious history of Aigues-Mortes.
