Located in Saint-Jean-du-Gard, Maison Rouge - Cévennes Valley Museum is the museum of the Cévennes identity.
All the Cevennes in a museum.
Why is the chestnut tree called the breadfruit tree, the mulberry tree, the golden tree? An incredible collection of 10,000 exhibits give an understanding of the life, know-how and history of the Cevennes.
Man and the objects he has made are at the center of the discourse.
As a heritage, the memory of the spinning mill, the oldest to have innovated and the last one in activity in France, is sublimated by a deliberately contemporary renovation and extension.
All summer long, the museum offers shows on Thursdays at 6 pm, a treasure hunt on Fridays and many visits.
Note that you can download the Maison Rouge application on the museum's website to visit independently in English, Dutch or German.
