Inclined plane Saint-Louis Arzviller

A key technical structure in eastern France, the Plan Incliné replaces a scale of 17 locks over 4 km, which used to take a day to navigate. It was commissioned on January 27, 1969.
Located on the Canal de la Marne au Rhin in the Phalsbourg area, it enables boaters to cross the threshold of the Vosges mountains, overcoming a 44.55 m difference in height in just a few minutes.
