Cabinet des Monnaies et Médailles

A permanent exhibition room presenting the different kind of coins minted in Marseille. The oldest workshops in the West and in provencal during 2400 years ( 6 century BC 1857) and exchanges with theirs economic partners.
A journey through the world of medals from the 16th to the 20th century, featuring the signatures of the greatest masters of medal engraving.

A temporary exhibition room offers encounters with the various coin collections held by the Cabinet des Monnaies et Médailles (Greek, Roman, Byzantine, medieval, French royal and foreign), as well as with medals and tokens.

Following the Covid-19 epidemic, this facility is currently closed.

The Cabinet showroom is closed. Pending renovation, the collections can be viewed at the Archives municipales, other Marseille museums and the Mucem, among others.
