Description

The site of the Ancient Port (named Jardin des vestiges when it was opened to the public in 1983) presents the results of the first major urban archaeological excavations carried out in France.
The remains, revealed in 1967 on the construction site of the Centre Bourse, are major historical witnesses. The site is structured around the Roman road, the Greek ramparts and around the Ancient Port where the largest visible wreck in the world was discovered.

This Roman road, lined with funerary monuments, enters the city through a monumental entrance.

The entrance is through the Museum of History, inside the Exchange Center.
