Quai de la Fraternité

Description

The Quai de la Fraternité is perpendicular to the Quai de Rive Neuve to the South, and to the Quai du Port to the North. It hosts the fish market, the shade house and many events and gatherings.
For 26 centuries, the Old Port has been the prestigious theater where the history of Marseille is played out. During Antiquity and the Middle Ages, the Greek city (Massalia), then the Roman city (Massilia) and the medieval city (Marsiho) developed on the north shore and then towards the south in the 17th century. From then on, the entrance to the port was guarded by two forts, Fort Saint-Nicolas and Fort Saint-Jean.
