Mediaeval fortress of frouard

Situated on a spur, the remains of the castle overlook the towns of Frouard and Pompey, with stunning views across the Meurthe and Moselle. Although little remains of the 13th-century castle (round tower and foundation stones) – which was destroyed in the 17th century by order of Richelieu – the site has recently been redeveloped to give visitors an idea of its original structure and scale.
