The "Grand Logis" is one of Bouin's most beautiful residences dating from the 16th and 17th centuries. On the rear façade, two buttresses dating from before the construction date are believed to be the remains of an earlier building dating from the 13th century. The Grand Logis was the hotel that housed the lords of Poitou. At that time, the island was governed by the jurisdictions of Poitou and Brittany. In 1650, Philippe de Clérambault, baron of Palluau and future marshal of France, bought the two undivided parts of the Ile de Bouin, making the two jurisdictions disappear. The Lords of Poitou remained in Bouin until the French Revolution.
In 1833, the building became a public school for boys. Today, the Grand Logis houses the public school and its library.
