This 11th and 17th century chapel was known as the chapel of the Saint Julien chaplaincy before the French Revolution.
On 21 June 1791, the building was sold as national property to the Luminais family; it was to become a storeroom and later a dance hall. The chapel was bought back by the parish priest, Durandet, who donated it to the parish to house coffins while awaiting burial. For almost a century, this chapel, known as the Chapelle des Sept Douleurs, was used for this purpose.
In 1967, the disused chapel became the property of the local authority. It was restored and refurbished and became the municipal library in 1993.
