Born in Mouilleron en Pareds in 1841, Georges Clemenceau spent his childhood in the Vendée. A doctor, journalist and politician, he was President of the Council from 1906 to 1909 and again from 1917 to 1919. History records his decisive action for victory in the First World War. In 1929, he chose Mouchamps as his final resting place. He was laid to rest beside his father in the Bois du Colombier (the old family home).
