Geology, Prehistory, Antiquity, the Middle Ages, the Modern Era, the Vendée War, the 19th century... Discover history in complete freedom, and become part of the era you're living through. For an hour or a whole day, the innovative museography will awaken all your senses and change your mind about museums. The Children's Museum, an innovative concept, offers a fun way to discover the sea.
The Historial also offers a rich and varied programme of events throughout the year, including shows, workshops, guided tours, storytelling and star-studded evenings.

Alexander Solzhenitsyn" exhibition: from 16 December 2023 to 9 June 2024
The Département is paying tribute to the great writer Alexander Solzhenitsyn, winner of the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1970, who inaugurated the Vendée Memorial 30 years ago on behalf of the victims of all forms of totalitarianism. The exhibition will immerse visitors in the writer's literary work through a number of listening points. To retrace the tumultuous historical context in which Solzhenitsyn lived, posters, weapons and uniforms as well as personal objects bearing witness to his courageous
will be on display thanks to the collaboration of the Alexander Solzhenitsyn Cultural Centre in Paris.
