Abbaye de Clairmont

Description

Founded in 1152 by Bernard de Clairvaux in a landscape of woods and ponds, the Abbey of Clairmont or Clermont is a very pure model of Cistercian settlement.
From the 12th to the 15th century, Clairmont Abbey was the burial place of the Lords of Laval.
It retains a large proportion of its original buildings, which are listed as Historic Monuments: the abbey church of impressive dimensions, the cellar and refectory of the lay brothers, and the porter's house.

Clairmont Abbey will be closed to visitors from 6 November 2023 and will reopen on Saturday 30 March 2024 at 2pm.
It is possible to visit the abbey outside working hours, for a minimum group of 4 people, by calling 06 08 72 48 63.
