Eglise Saint-Pierre d'Escoublac

Eglise Saint-Pierre d'Escoublac

Description

It was built to replace the old Benedictine chapel, which served as the parish church from the 1750s until it silted up completely in 1785. The architectural ensemble is remarkable for its medieval-style turret. There are many relics of the past, including the altar (carved wood) and the baptismal font, the statue of Saint-Anne and the two medallions in the stained glass windows at the back of the church, salvaged from the old chapel (restored in 1901). Architect: Le Fort - laying of the 1st stone: 22 February 1785 - inauguration: 4 June 1786.

Mass times :
Summer: Saturday at 6.30pm
Winter: Sunday 9am and Thursday 6.30pm
