Château de la Roche-Noyant

Built between 1785 and 1788 by Louis de Dieusie, a wealthy landowner, Château de la Roche-Noyant is a fine example of Enlightenment architecture in Anjou. Guillotined in 1794, the man who commissioned the work only briefly enjoyed the use of this elegant residence.
Sold in 1804 to Baron de Candé, the château remained in his family until the late 1970s. Numerous improvements were made over time, including the creation of outbuildings and the landscaping of a park designed in 1878 by Jacques Chevallier. After housing a school for some twenty years, the estate is now regularly maintained and restored by its current owners.
The tour only covers the exterior: the park, the terrace and the outbuildings.
