Step into history at the medieval castle of Pouancé!
Set on a rocky promontory, the fortress is a strategic sentinel over the Marches de Bretagne. Built in the 12th century, its six towers make it one of the most imposing fortified castles in Anjou.
A key element in the conquest of Brittany by the Kingdom of France, the fortress of Pouancé saw Jean II d'Alençon - companion of Joan of Arc -, Bertrand du Gueslin - Constable of France - and even King Louis XI pass through its walls.
Discover the remains of the medieval Château de Pouancé and immerse yourself in the heart of history.
