PERMANENT EXHIBITION: SHIPBUILDERS: Until 1987, Nantes built great ships. The Shipbuilders exhibition retraces the two thousand years of this history, which has had a profound impact on the region. It looks at the main technical developments, the shipbuilding trades, the working conditions of the workers and their union battles. It also looks at the river, the port, the transporter bridge and the major changes on the Ile de Nantes. Tools, models, films and sound recreate a very special world, that of the shipyards and their workers.
