Aude, Claire, Yoann and Cyril represent the 4th generation of beekeepers on the farm, which was founded in 1920.
They carry on this tradition by sharing their passion for bees with visitors in a very special setting. Their farm is nestled in 3,000 hectares of forest in the heart of the Loire-Anjou-Touraine Regional Nature Park, in the small village of La Breille-les-Pins near Saumur on the border with the Indre-et-Loire department.
The forest of pine, chestnut and heather provides an ideal setting for their bees to produce an exceptionally diverse range of quality honeys.
They have a herd of around 600 hives, spread over some fifty kilometres around Saumur, in 4 départements.
You can visit them all year round and discover their shop, open Monday to Thursday from 2pm to 6pm and Friday from 9am to 5pm. You'll find a wide range of honeys and gourmet products. They also offer health products such as pollen, propolis and royal jelly.
At weekends, you can find Girard honeys with their mobile lorry at the Saumur market on Saturday mornings, at Place Saint Pierre and at the Langeais market on Sunday mornings.
And if you want to discover the wonderful world of bees, don't miss the traditional open days in July and August (26/27 July 2025 and 30/31 August 2025)! More information at www.miel-girard.com/actualites-miels-girard.html
Tours of the honey house, led by a beekeeper, will also be on offer during the summer (price: €5/adult - free for under-12s), as well as introductory beekeeping courses to teach you the basics of looking after a colony.
