For four generations, Château d'Avrillé, owned by the Biotteau family, has been a benchmark estate. Pascal and his sons, grandson and great-grandson of the founder Eusèbe Biotteau, continue the history of Château d'Avrillé today. Situated in the heart of Anjou, in Saint-Jean-des-Mauvrets, the estate covers 200 hectares. Situated on a promontory, the estate offers a sumptuous view over the Aubance valley.
Most of the wines produced by the winegrowers are classified as AOP (including Coteaux de l'Aubance, Anjou rouge, Anjou gamay, Anjou Brissac, Anjou blanc, Cabernet d'Anjou, Rosé de Loire and Crémant de Loire), with the exception of the dry white wines, Chardonnay and Sauvignon. The main grape varieties used in the vineyards are Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir and Chenin Blanc.
Wine-tourism packages are available all year round, by prior arrangement:
- Escapade Vigneronne "L'Express": Taste 3 wines with explanations of the history of the estate (30 min - €4)
- Escapade Vigneronne "La Découverte": Follow the path of a grape in the production cellar. Finish in the cellar with a tasting of our emblematic cuvées (1h30 - €10)
- Gastronomic Winegrower's Escapade: From the vine to the bottle, discover our winemaking secrets! Then savour our wines accompanied by gourmet snacks. (2h - 25€)
This season (2025), a farm drive is organised every Thursday at the estate, via an intermediary working with the locavor.fr platform.
